Ronald Schoenherr Obituary

Ronald Paul Schoenherr, of Ramona, California, went home to be with the Lord on January 21, 2026. He was born on January 13, 1948, in Niagara Falls, New York.
Ronald was reunited in heaven with his parents, Elmer and Marie Schoenherr; his elder brother, Roger (Jane) Elmer Schoenherr; and his infant brother, Berkley Wilbert Schoenherr.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Joan Schoenherr, of California; his brother, Daniel (Kathy) Schoenherr of Missouri; his son David Paul Schoenherr of California; his daughter, Sara (Gerry) Stevens of California; and his cherished grandchildren, Hope Marie Stevens, Gerald Francis Stevens III, Matthew Paul Schoenherr, and Adam Gordon Schoenherr, all of California.
Ronald earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). On May 19, 1973, he married the love of his life, Mary Joan Jansen, in Clarence, New York. Shortly after, Ronald’s employer, Xerox, relocated them to Dallas, Texas, where they spent the next fourteen years. During that time, they built not only a home with their own hands and raised dairy goats, but also a family through the adoption of two beautiful children.
One of Ron’s favorite bands growing up was the Beach Boys. Listening to them on the East Coast, he would often dream of California. A dream that came true in the summer of 1987, when Xerox relocated Ronald, Mary and their two children to San Diego, California. There they purchased a home in Ramona, CA, where they put down roots, became involved in the community, and truly became a proud Ramonian. After his time at Xerox, Ronald continued his career at TRW, later Northrop Grumman, where he completed his professional journey and retired in 2015.
Ronald was a deeply faithful and religious man whose love for the Lord guided every part of his life. He devoted much of his spare time to his local church, where he worked on many building projects and held many church offices.
A farmer at heart, Ronald found joy in tinkering in his shop, working with his hands, gardening, reading, learning, and spending meaningful time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Throughout his life his main hobby was fixing cars. In College he would go home on weekends where he completely rebuilt his 1965 Corvair including the paint. He was also interested in sports which included going to his children’s and grandchildren’s baseball, soccer, and football games. In high school he was on the wrestling team. He also enjoyed watching professional baseball and football games, taking his family to many Padre games.
Ronald’s love of trains began when he was young, starting with model trains. As an adult he was able to visit several train museums in the U.S.
Ronald made time every day to pray, giving thanks to the Lord for his life and for all the blessings he had received and those he trusted were still to come.
Ronald was a quiet man, a strong man, and a man who loved deeply. His faith, dedication, humility, and steady presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.
